JAMMU, Jan 27: In connection with celebration of 64th Republic Day glittering functions were organised by various Government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings here yesterday.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC): In connection with celebration of 64th Republic Day yesterday an impressive function was organized by JMC in the premises of Town hall yesterday in which Commissioner JMC, K L Khajuria hoisted the National Tricolour in presence of Joint Commissioner (A), Joint Commissioner (W), Secretary, Health Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer, Enforcement Officers, Chief Transport Officer, other senior officers and employees of JMC. Mr Khajuria on the occasion extended his heartiest congratulations to the countrymen.
State Bank of India: The Rural Self Employment Training Institute of State Bank of India, Bantalab organised a grand function yesterday to celebrate the Republic Day. Satish Gupta Director of the Institute hoisted the National Flag on the occasion.
District Jail Jammu: The 64th Republic Day was celebrated by the district jail staff, CRPF personnel and the jail inmates with fervour and gaiety. The Jail Superintendent hoisted the National Flag and highlighted the importance of the Day. This was followed by distribution of sweets among the gathering. On the occasion Bara Khanna was also arranged for the jail inmates.
Department of Agriculture: The Republic Day was celebrated with great charm by the Department of Agriculture at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo yesterday. The programme was organised by J&K Agriculture Employees Association and All J&K Agriculture Officers Welfare Forum. Director Agriculture Jammu, Ajay Khajuria was the chief guest on the occasion who hoisted the National Flag. A large number of employees and officers of the department attended the function. Mr Khajuria in his address threw light on the significance of the Day. Deputy Director Sudesh Koul, Assistant Agri Chemist, R K Bhagat, N A Zargar, chairman AJKOWF, Kuldeep Sharma and others also addressed the gathering.
Power Grid : Northern Region Transmission System II, Power Grid celebrated the Republic Day at Grid Bhawan, Bahu Plaza here yesterday with gaiety and enthusiasm. S K Sharma General Manager, In charge Projects was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled the National Flag. Senior officers including Mrs Meena Sharma, president Shastri Mahila Samiti, employees, their families and children were present on the occasion.
Kot Bhalwal Jail: The Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety at the Central Jail Kot Bhalwal yesterday. On the occasion Jail Superintendent Rajni Sehgal hoisted the national Flag. A march past was also held in which contingent of CRPF, J&K Police and brass band consisting of jail inmates took part. Besides, different cultural programes were performed by the tiny tots of the local school. Local Rang Manch an NGO presented a play on social evils on the occasion.
Salal Power Station: The 64th Republic Day was also celebrated at Salal Power Station yesterday with great zeal and enthusiasm. The General Manager NHPC, Chander Mohan hoisted the National Flag at Ramlila Ground. All the staff members, their family members and a large number of local people attended the function. CISF jawans and KV students took out a march past. The sweets were later distributed among the gathering.
Poonch Brigade: The 64th Republic Day was celebrated by Poonch Brigade and its units in all the schools of Poonch Sector. The Army organised number of functions in the local schools in the remote and unapproachable areas. The celebrations included cultural programme, patriotic songs, small dramas, skits performed by the students.
Thannamandi Rajouri: A grand function was held at Thannamandi Rajouri yesterday in connection with celebration of Republic Day. Tehsildar Thannamandi, Farooq Khan who was the chief guest on the occasion hoisted the National Flag. He while highlighting the significance of the day said that country progressed leaps and bounds after attaining independence in 1947. He urged the people to strengthen the democratic institutions in the country for its progress and prosperity. The function was attended by a large number of people including Army and civil officers. A cultural programme was also held on the occasion in which the students from different schools took part.
District Administration Poonch: On the occasion of 64 th Republic Day a cultural function was organised by District Administration at TRC yesterday in which the renowned artist from Jammu Darmesh Nargotra was also invited by DDC Poonch, A K Sahu. Commander Poonch Brigade M K Magu, SSP Poonch Shamsher Hussian, CMO V K Sawhni, all district officers, besides a guest from PoK Abdul Rehman attended the function. The local artists from Poonch and Rajouri were also invited.
RD celebrated at Reasi: In connection with the 64th Republic Day celebrations, an impressive function was held at Sports Stadium Reasi on Saturday.
Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Niwang Rigzin Jora, who was chief guest on the occasion, unfurled the National Flag and took salute of the march past, presented by the school children and security personals.
The children presented a colourful bonanza of cultural items, depicting national integration, patriotism, social evils and importance of independence, which mesmerized the jam packed audience.
Prominent among others present on the occasion include Former Minister and MLA Gulabgarh Abdul Ghani Malik, MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, MLC Jugal Kishor Sharma, DC Reasi Nirmal Sharma and SSP Reasi Thakur Raghuvir Singh.
Similar function was held at Katra, Mahore, Pouni, Arnas.
