Govt deploys MSs to two new COVID hospitals in J&K

Srinagar, May 20: Days after the Government sanctioned the establishment of two 500-bedded COVID hospitals one each in Srinagar as well as in Jammu, set to come up in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), it today deployed In-charge Medical Superintendents (MSs) to both the hospitals.
The appointments have been made after the transfers and postings on an ad-hoc basis to oversee the functioning of DRDO established 500-bedded COVID hospitals.
A Government order issued by the Health & Medical Education Department stated:” Consequent upon the establishment of two 500-bedded temporary COVID Hospitals, one each at Jammu and Srinagar vide Government Order No, 398-JK(HME) of 2021 dated 18-05-2021 and to make these Health Institutions functional, the transfers/postings of the doctors are hereby ordered with immediate effect in the first instance.”
As per the order issued, Dr Narinder Bhutyal, Programme Manager, State Health Society, J&K on a deputation basis has been transferred and posted as In-charge Medical Superintendent of the 500 bedded temporary COVID Hospital, Jammu.
Also, Dr Parveen Yograj, Incharge DIO, Rajouri has been transferred and posted as Programme Manager, State Health Society, J&K on a deputation basis.
For the COVID hospital in Srinagar, Dr Abdul Rashid Parra, Consultant Anaesthesia, National Health Mission who was there on a deputation basis has been transferred and posted as In-charge Medical Superintendent in the 500 bedded temporary COVID Hospital, Srinagar.
The appointment of the next in line Deputy Medical Superintendent, the officials said are also going to be filled up on a deployment basis from the Health Services Department.
Notably, the Government for the establishment of the two 500-bedded was issued a few days ago with a detailed breakup of several posts that are to be created.
As per the details, there are a total number of 1366 posts that have been created in different pay scales with 683 posts each at Srinagar and Jammu.
The appointment of the rest of the staff has been given to the two committees that have also been formed one each in Jammu and Srinagar which are headed by the Principals of the respective Government Medical Colleges.
