JAMMU, Sept 30: Prof. Dushyant Rampal Memorial Trust today organized a lecture on ‘Challenges in Education’ in the memory of Late Prof. D K Rampal at Jammu University here.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh who was the chief guest on the occasion paid floral tributes to Late Prof. D K Rampal.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken various steps for bridging the gap between rural and urban education systems. The Government is committed to improve the standard of education in the State. In order to achieve this objective, the Government has launched various educational schemes and scholarship programmes for the welfare of the talented youth.
He further said that stress should be laid on technical education and job oriented courses so that the students can take up a job, right after completing their studies. He said that the focus of Government is to provide quality technical education to the youth of the State and hoped that with the start of Indian institute of Technology in next academic session will bring a sea change in the academic profile of people.
The Deputy CM said that scientific inventions and technological advancements play a very important role in the progress of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India will definitely bring a change in the lives of the citizens of this country.
Stressing on the need for adopting yoga to keep body and mind fit, the Deputy CM said that yoga has revolutionized the whole world. Yoga offers an opportunity to balance the mind and body, and helps harness an individual’s inner strength, he added.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof. R D Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Prof. Bhim Singh Dhaiya, formerVice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Y R Malhotra, Prof. Posh Charak, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava and Prof. Jasbir Singh also spoke on the occasion.
