RAMBAN, May 26: “The present Government is committed to bring transparency, accountability and high performance in the administrative setup”, said Minister for Social Welfare, Forests, Environment and Ecology Bali Bhagat today while reviewing the performance under district plan and centrally sponsored schemes at Ramban.
MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Lageh, MLA Banihal Vikar Rasool Wani, DDC Farooq Shah Bukhari, SSP, SSP- Traffic besides sectoral officers were present in the meeting.
DDC apprised the meeting that out of allocation of Rs 40 crore Plan for 2014-15, Rs 38 crore have been spent so far.
The Minister expressed dissatisfaction over casual approach of CEO Ramban in making timely payments under scholarship schemes to ST students and ordered a time bound enquiry into the matter with submission of report at the earliest.
Regarding rural sanitation in the district, the Minister asked the DDC to conduct a thorough verification of all IHHLs constructed during 2014-15 in the district so that payment can be made to the justified beneficiaries.
While reviewing the PHE sector, the Minister instructed the XEn PHE to expedite the work on filtration plant at Ramban in addition to the water supply schemes being financed by LIC at Banihal, Ramban and Batote at a cost of Rs 12 crore each scheme. He directed XEn I&FC to speed up work on damaged khuls and channelization of diverted rivulets so that the land which has been left un irrigated due to recent rains can be irrigated, reclaimed and used for cultivation of crops. He also asked Xen to restore Kundi Khul within a week’s time.
The Minister directed the DDC, XEn R&B and tourism officers to prepare a comprehensive plan for renovation of tourism infrastructure at Dak Banglow Ramban and prepare a fresh DPR for establishing a Dak Banglow by R&B Department at district headquarters.
Under PMGSY, MLA Banihal informed that the realigned 8 km of Banihal Mangit road has hampered the work on this 30 km long road which requires forest clearance on which the Minister assured that the matter will be resolved so that work on the road can restored as early as possible.
Taking a strong note of the non payment of relief among the families whose property was damaged due to incessant rains in the district, the minister asked the concerned officers to complete all cases under disaster relief within four days for further disbursal among the affected families.
While reviewing the pace of recovery of encroached forest land in the district, the Minister was apprised that the recovery process is in full swing and all targets have been achieved in time.
Later, the Minister addressed a public meeting at Dak Bangalow Ramban in which a large number of people and PRI representatives were present.
On the occasion, the Minister who was accompanied by MLA Ramban distributed cheques worth Rs 1.56 lakh among 13 beneficiaries under National Foundation for Communal Harmony besides giving away wheel chairs and hearing aids to physically challenged beneficiaries.
