SRINAGAR: Upping the ante on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over media gag in Kashmir valley, main opposition National Conference (NC) Chief Omar Abdullah today alleged that the State Government continues to plant stories blaming everyone but itself while the toll of death and injured mounts.

“No one. The media gagged itself & blamed the State Government is what they will say!!!!,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the State, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. Mr Abdullah was reacting to a tweet which read, “Jammu and Kashmir High Court questions State Government who ordered the media gag and why?”

“While the @MehboobaMufti Govt continues to plant stories blaming everyone but itself for the situation the toll of dead & injured mounts,” he added. However, the tweets by Mr Abdullah got a mixed response on the micro-blogging site with some supporting him while other asking him to remember his tenure as the chief minister of the State in 2010 unrest when more than 120 persons, mostly youths, were killed in security force firing.
