Govt bans use of Incandescent Lamps

JAMMU, Nov 26: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir today ordered a ban on use of Incandescent Lamps in all Government buildings and commercial establishments in the Union Territory with immediate effect.
According to an order issued in this regard, the Incandescent Lamps in all the Government buildings and commercial establishments must be replaced by LED Lamps by December 11, 2019.
“It will be mandatory that in existing buildings falling in the category of Government sector/Government Institutions/ Public Sector Units/Autonomous bodies/Industrial and commercial establishments, the Incandescent Lamps shall be replaced by LED Lamps within a period of 15 days from the date of issuance of this order,” reads the Government order number 206-PDD of 2019, dated 26-11-2019.
The order further says that use of LED Lamps shall be a mandatory condition incorporated in release/sanction orders for all the new connections/loads for Government buildings/Institutions/ PSUs/Industrial and Commercial establishments and autonomous bodies.
The Government order, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 18 of the Energy Conservation Act 2001 (Act number 52 of 2001) for the mandatory use of LED Lamps, has been issued for the efficient use of energy and its conservation.
