JAMMU, Apr 17: The passengers traveling through Indian Railways have urged the Railway authority to have check on rates charged by coolies at Jammu Railway Station for carrying goods and luggage.
In a statement Krishan Gopal Puri a social activist said that exorbitant rates are being charged for carrying luggage weighing 10 kgs or less from old and infirm people by the Railway collies which is totally injustice.
He said the Government should fix the rates for carrying luggage as per weight and distance at Railway Station so that the people especially the old are not subjected to hardships and exploitation by collies gangs.
He said for carrying two bags of 10 kg luggage from the outer gate of the Railway Station to the platform the collies are charging Rs 200 which is not justified.
