JAMMU, Aug 16: The 69th Independence Day was celebrated on Saturday with traditional fervour and patriotism by various Government Departments and its agencies across the State.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine celebrated the occasion by organizing an impressive function at SMVD Multipurpose Sports Stadium Katra where CEO Ajeet Kumar Sahu hoisted the tricolour and took salute amidst impressive march-past by the contingents drawn from CRPF, J&K Police, NCC Boys and Girls, Scouts and Guides, besides the students of various educational institutions.
The students of various educational institutions presented a captivating cultural programme on this occasion while Mr Sahu gave prizes to those who were adjudged best in the march-past and presentation of cultural programme. Dr M K Kumar and B Mohandaas, Additional CEO SMVDSB, Neeraj Gupta, Pankaj Sharma, Pankaj Gupta and Devinder Singh Bhau, Sunil Kumar( Commandant , CRPF 6th Bn) , Anil Chandel, SDM, Katra, Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP, Katra and others were also present on the occasion.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, Ajeet Kumar Sahu also hoisted the tricolour at a function held at Central Office of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Katra. Officers and employees of the Shrine Board were present on the occasion. Sweets were distributed among the children on this occasion.
The Principal Resident Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir Government, Lokesh Jha unfurled the National Flag on the occasion of 69th Independence Day at Jammu and Kashmir House 5- Prithvi Raj Road New Delhi. A contingent of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police presented the guard of honour on the occasion and the ceremonial function was attended by all the officers/officials of Jammu and Kashmir posted at New Delhi.
The children presented a colorful programme and sweets were distributed among the participants while the Principal Resident Commissioner interacted with the officers/officials of JK House.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Soujanya Sharma, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation hoisted the National Flag at Jammu Municipal Corporation, Town Hall Complex, Jammu and also presented mementos along with certificates to the Officers/Officials of different wings of JMC for their meritorious services rendered by them.
Among others, Asstt Commissioner Revenue Subash Mehta, Chief Accounts Officer, Yash Paul Khajuria, Joint Commissioner(W), Kushal Chand, Special Asstt. to Commissioner, Rakesh Chander Gupta, Health Officer, Dr Saleem Khan, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Chief Transport Officer, Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Khilafwarzi Officer, Rajesh Gupta Executive Engineers, Surjit Singh, Arvind Gupta, Paramjeet Singh, president Safaikaramchari Union, Rinku Gill, president Drivers & Cleaners Union, Ranjit Singh, president Trade Union, Suresh Sharma, and other staff from the Corporation were present on the occasion.
Income Tax Department Jammu organized a function at Aayakar Bhawan, Jammu to celebrate the Independence Day. National Flag was unfurled by Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Jammu. A large number of officers, staff, advocates, chartered accountants, prominent tax payers etc. were present to pay their respect to the National Flag.
K V K Singh, Addl Commissioner of Income Tax, Rajeev Gubgotra, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Anil Sharma, Chairman NIRC, Jammu Chapter, Sat Mehta, president of Income Tax Bar Association, Rakesh Gupta, president of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yash Pal Gupta, president of Associated Traders Federation, Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, R K Gupta CA, Representative of J&K Bank Ltd. (the highest tax payer) also spoke on the occasion.
The Independence Day celebration functions were also held in Income Tax Offices at Srinagar, Anantnag, Udhampur and Kathua.
Powergrid Northern Region Transmission System –II celebrated Independence Day with patriotism & enthusiasm. Flag hoisting and cultural programmes were organized at all its establishments across the region. At its Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu. S K Sharma, Executive Director, NRTS –II, unfurled the National Flag in presence of S D Joshi, General Manager (Projects), Prof Meena Sharma, senior officials, employees, their families and children.
Various cultural programmes were presented by members of Shristi Mahila Samiti and children. Winners of various competitions were awarded by S.K.Sharma and other dignitaries on this occasion.
Salal Power Station celebrated Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm at Ramlila Ground Jyotipuram wherein a large number of employees, CISF personnel, their family members and locals participated. A G Ansari, General Manager, Salal Power Station was the chief guest who hoisted the National Flag.
Independence Day was also celebrated by Dulhasti Power Station and Burser HE Project with great enthusiasm at Kendriya Vidyalaya Premises Kishtwar wherein a large number of employees, CISF Personnel, their family member and school children participated. Arvind Bhat, General Manager, Dulhasti Power Station, unfurled the National Tricolor and paid homage to the martyrs of freedom struggle who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country. The programme concluded with distribution of sweets.
Similarly, Flag hoisting ceremony was held at Baglihar Hydro-electric Project Chanderkot, district Ramban, Er Abdul Wahid, Chief Engineer © and Er Paras Ram Angurala, Chief Engineer (E) of the Project, hoisted the National Flag in presence of officers/officials and their families. On the occasion, distinguished services of some of the dedicated and hard working officials were rewarded by giving them prizes.
Agriculture Department celebrated Independence Day at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo Jammu where Director of Agriculture, Dr S S Jamwal hoisted the National Flag. Officers and officials of the department participated in the programme wherein colourful cultural items were also presented.
Independence Day was celebrated in Central Jail Jammu, Kot Bhalwal where SG Superintendent Jail Dinesh Sharma hoisted the National Flag while the Jail inmates presented a cultural programme thus displaying their talent in artistic and intellectual activities. Senior Medical Officer Dr Rajinder Kumar, Assistant Commandant CRPF, Prince Bhardwaj, and others were present on the occasion.
At Sub-Jail Hiranagar, the National Flag was hoisted by the Superintendent Jail Lazar Kandayaray and cultural items were presented by the Jail inmates on the occasion of Independence Day.
Independence Day was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm at Sub Jail Reasi. The function started with flag hoisting ceremony by I/C Superintendent Sub Jail Reasi, Madan Lal. The guard of honour was presented by the prison staff and IRP jawans. Sweets were distributed among the staff and jail inmates. Later a colourful cultural programme was presented by jail inmates.
Police Transport Workshop Jammu celebrated 69th Independence Day by organizing a function where SSP Ranjit Singh Sambyal hoisted National Flag. DySP Central Police Petrol Pump Jammu, Mohd Hafiz and DySP Police Transport Workshop, Javid Iqbal Naaz were also present on the occasion. SSP Sambyal announced cash reward along with Commendation Certificate Class-III to the deserving officers/officials for their hard work and dedication towards the duty.
Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Jammu Airport where Director Airport D K Gautam unfurled the National Flag amidst singing of National Anthem by the participants. Representatives and employees of all the Airport agencies took part in the celebration function.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Regional Office Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The event was held in RBI office complex located at Rail Head complex, and RBI Staff Colony, Trikuta Nagar. All RBI staff members and their families were invited for the occasion. D Sethy, Regional Director, RBI hoisted the National Flag first at Rail Head Complex office and then at RBI Staff Colony. Events such as cricket match for the males, musical chairs for the ladies, and an Independence Day related theme painting competition for children were held till noon. The cultural programme marked end of the day-long celebrations.
Bhaderwah celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervour and zeal. The celebrations marked singing of the National Anthem and unfurling of the National Flag by SDM Bhaderwah Mohd Anwar Banday. The tiny tots and students of various educational institutions proudly wore the tri-colour and sang patriotic songs.
ASP Bhaderwah Amit Bhasin, SDPO Bhaderwah Sajjad Khan and Rector Bhaderwah campus Prof G M Batt presented a memento to SDM Bhaderwah. Others who were present on occasion, included SHO Bhaderwah Bandeshwar Singh Manhas , BDO Tahir Malik , AEE BDA Fayiaz Metha and other officers of different departments.
In Bhalla, Bhaderwah, Independence Day function was arranged at Army Camp Bhalla where Tehsildar Bhalla Babu Ram Chaudhary took the salute and hoisted Tricolor. Besides locals, Captain 4 RR Vikas Sharma, BDO Bhalla Naeem Iqbal Sheikh, Incharge Police Post Bhalla Nazir Rishu, Sarpanch Talib Wani, Sarpanch Wazir Mohd, Sarpanch Rajinder Kumar, Sarpanch Ragesh Manhas, officials of Health, PHE, PWD and Education were present on the occasion. Children of many schools, including HS Bhalla, MS Bhalla, MS Khellani, MS Gouda and New Light Public School Bhalla celebrated presented many cultural programmes. The prizes were also distributed among the students who participated in cultural programmes.
Reports from Mahore said that 69th Independence Day was celebrated at Sub Divisional HQ Mahore with full fervour and gaiety. Subash Chander Dogra, SDM Mahore, hoisted National Flag and took salute. On the occasion, colourful cultural programme was also performed by the students of different schools of Mahore.
