JAMMU, Nov 10: State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has alleged that NC-Congress Coalition Government in the State was against the empowerment of Sarpanchs and Panchs.
Addressing public meetings at Kattal- Battal and Nagrota today, State president of the party Tulsi Dass Langeh alleged that National Conference and even the Congress were not in favour of empowerment of Panchayats. The elected Panchayat members were being befooled.
It is matter of great surprise that National Conference leaders were giving assurance for the empowerment of Panchayats while Congress leaders including PCC president, were expressing their party’s resolve to go for empowerment of Panchayats. Interestingly, both are harping on the same but not implementing it for the last more than three years. Who has stopped them for doing so if both the ruling parties are really serious on the issue. AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi also befooled the Sarpanchs and Panchs during convention of Panchayat members at MA Stadium in Jammu on November 6.
He asked the people to understand the designs of the leaders of these parties and teach them lesson during coming assembly elections. Not even NC and Congress but PDP leaders including former Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed had also befooled the Panchayat members on the name of empowerment. Five years are over but these members have not been empowered. He asked the people to support BSP for fulfillment of their aspirations.
Senior BSP leaders Girdhari Lal also addressed the gathering.
