Governing body reviews working of Shrine Board hospital

KATRA, July 24: The 25th meeting of the governing body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal was held under the chairmanship of Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and chairman of the governing body of the hospital.
The governing body took a detailed review of the latest status of the OPD and IPD patients treated, major surgeries performed and number of diagnostic tests conducted at this hospital since its formal inauguration on April 19, 2016. The meeting was informed that since the commencement of services on April 8, the hospital has treated nearly 19,000 OPD and 868 indoor patients as well as performed 279 surgeries, many of these were extremely critical. The surgeries also include 19 major cardiac surgeries (open heart) besides 16 total knee replacements.
Besides reviewing functioning, the governing body took several decisions for further expanding and upgrading the diagnostic and treatment facilities to be provided at this state-of-the-art Superspeciality Hospital for ensuring the best possible patient care.
Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO; Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH; and other concerned officers from the Shrine Board participated in the meeting. Those who took part in the governing body meeting on behalf of NVDSHPL/NH included Dr. Emmanuel Rupert, Chief of Medical Services, NH and Dr. S. P. Singh, CEO, NVDSHPL, Member, governing body.
The meeting reviewed the manpower deployment and requirement of additional equipments and logistics to further expand and upgrade patient care facilities at this Hospital as also the optimum utilisation of the entire infrastructure especially the dialysis unit. It is pertinent to mention that this Superspeciality Hospital has a highly experienced nephrologist and the unit is equipped with 6 dialysis machines.
The meeting was further informed that highly experienced consultants of repute from other Narayana Hospitals in the country shall start visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal from next month onwards to further strengthen OPD and IPD services at this Hospital and benefit people of the area.
The meeting decided that one Critical Care Ambulance will be kept available at Jammu for shifting, free of cost, seriously ailing patients to Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal.
Regarding organising of medical camps by the hospital in various rural areas of the State, it was informed that 5448 patients suffering from different ailments were examined at 32 camps and advised suitably. The latest camp was organised recently at Sunderbani.
Dr. S. S. Bloeria and Members of the governing body earlier had a round of various departments of the hospital and on spot assessment of its functioning.
