SRINAGAR, Aug 1:  General Officer Commanding in Chief Western Command Lt. General, KJ Singh, today called on the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh and discussed various issues related to the security scenario.
During the meeting, Lt Gen Singh briefed Dr. Nirmal Singh about the overall security situation in the areas of his responsibility, particularly along International Border in Jammu region and Punjab.
The Army Commander also discussed the present security scenario in Jammu region.
The Deputy Chief Minister discussed with Lt Gen Singh several important issues relating to external security management in the region, Jammu Airport expansion. Dr. Nirmal Singh also discussed up-gradation of Dhar road and construction of concrete bunkers along International Border. He asked for further coordination between Army and local populace in protecting the borders of the country.
Dr. Nirmal Singh appreciated the efforts of the Army in thwarting infiltration bids, neutralizing the militants and helping in developing infrastructure in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
