JAMMU, May 18: Chairman of the Guru Nanak Sewa Charitable Trust (GNSCT), Parvinder Singh, has appealed the Government for immediate relief and rehabilitation measures for residents living along the Indo-Pak border, who have been severely affected by cross-border shelling.
Expressing solidarity with the distressed border populace, Singh highlighted the growing panic and fear among civilians, stating that the relentless shelling from across the border has deeply disrupted normal life and posed a grave humanitarian challenge.
Singh emphasized that many border dwellers are forced to abandon their homes and livelihoods, leading to not only physical displacement but also severe emotional trauma. He called for enhanced compensation, improved shelter facilities, and swift restoration of damaged infrastructure.
He urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to further expedite the relief process and consider long-term policy measures for the rehabilitation and security of border residents. He also called for strategic development in these vulnerable zones, including the construction of bunkers, improved early warning systems, and job generation initiatives to stabilize both the humanitarian and economic landscape of the region.
