LEH, Nov 27: Government Middle School Taknak Serthi became the 4th Council Model School as this school was adopted as Council Model School in a function held here.
Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh Dr Sonam Dawa was the chief guest on the occasion, who inaugurated three additional room building of Middle School Taknak constructed under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan at an estimated cost of Rs 17 lakh.
A Memorandum of Understanding between LAHDC Leh and villagers involving Councilor, Nambarder, parents and school management committee was signed to run the Council Model School Taknak assuring every possible support from the stakeholders.
The teachers of school headed by Headmaster Sonam Gyaltson with the support of school management committee and Councilor Sakthi Gyal Wangyal motivated the parents to enroll their children in the school with the promise that their children will be groomed in most organized and modern way close to their village environment, cultural, moral values and language. Showing confidence on the initiative, the parents wholeheartedly enrolled their children who were earlier studying in the private schools and today the roll of students has raised from 5 to 32 and expected to reach 100 by next year.
Addressing the participants, CEC Dr Dawa said “Education is Council’s top priority and there will be no compromise in facilitating good schools specially Council Model School. We will go beyond rules and formalities to strengthen such schools”.
Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Sakthi Gyal Wangail emphasized upon all the stakeholders to do their best in fulfilling the expectations of parents and students assuring his unconditional support.
Earlier, Chief Education Officer, Leh Surinder Kumar, ZEO, Kharu Punchok Wangchuk, Headmaster Council Model School Taknak Gonam Gyaltson, Chairman School Management Committee Tashi Wangial and Nambarder Sakthi Tsering Angchuk assured to extend every possible help and support to make this school a real model school in the district.
Headquarter Assistant Sonam Dorjay, CDPO Khari Zarina Bano and parents were present on the occasion.
A cultural progarmme was also presented by the students on the occasion.
