JAMMU, May 9: Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) Core Committee meeting was held today at Government Medical College, Jammu under the chairpersonship of Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu Dr Sunanda Raina regarding deliberation and implementation of different activities under RNTCP in GMC Jammu.
In the meeting, the implementation of new diagnosis and treatment guidelines for the TB as prescribed under RNTCP was the main agenda. The State TB Officer, Dr. Sanjay Turki presented the status of various activities of RNTCP programme in GMC Jammu and other hospitals of the state.
Dr. Rahul Gupta, HoD CD&TB said that the biggest challenge is the management of MDR and XDR Tuberculosis. It was stressed upon by the Chairman that the TB is a notifiable disease and should be notified by various departments as well as the private practitioners to the concerned authorities so that the adequate and timely intervention can be done to prevent the spread of the infection in the society.
Further, it was resolved in the meeting that to enhance the safety of drugs, the national RNTCP and PVPI have ended into MOU. Therefore it should be made mandatory to report any adverse reaction to the Incharge ADRM Centre, GMC Jammu (Dr. Vishal Tandon) so that a alert and a signal in this direction can be generated in the interest of safety of the patients.
Also, the phasewise training of the Post Graduates, Registrars, and Faculty Members, Interns and MBBS Students be stressed upon by the concerned departments and a continuance endeavour should be made towards the continues medical education of one and all beside creating public awareness in this direction.
Various Heads of the Departments, Faculty Members, DTO Jammu (Member Secretary) and Medical Superintendent, GMCH Jammu Dr Dara Singh were among those present in the meeting.
