Jammu, Mar 19: First meeting to implement new Curriculum based on attitude ethics skill and communication proposed by MCI to be started for the batch of 2019 – 20 was held today in GMC Jammu which was chaired by Principal Dean Government Medical College, Jammu and co-chaired by Director Principal ASCOMS Dr Pawan Malhotra today.
Principal/ Dean GMC Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina, said that this is going to be the first major revision to medical curriculum since 1997. She said that the institute is all set to implement the Competency Based Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum Including AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics, Communication) Program, through the Curriculum Committees along with the help and assistance of Medical Education units of respective institutions.
She said all HoDs will make their departmental subject committees and are going to play the most important role in finalising the subject competencies and will provide it same on and before April 25 so that new revised curriculum is finalised and vetted through university of Jammu well before May 31 deadline given by the MCI.
Dr Pawan Malhotra Director Principal said it is high time that faculty of both the institutions, which is well trained with this new revised Curriculum of MCI, should further train other faculty members with it in Phase wise manner, which is also the requirement of the MCI..
Prof. Dr Ashok Sharma, co- coordinator Curriculum Committee GMC Jammu , Dr Vishal R Tandon Associate Professor Pharmacology and Dr Rachan Saberwal, Assistant Professor, Biochemistry, made various deliberations and laid down the road map for finalization of new revised curicullum in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the all Heads of the Department of all broad specialities from GMC Jammu and ASCOM.
