JAMMU, Sept 14: A medical camp regarding the diagnosis and management of Cardiovascular diseases was organized at Simbal Camp, today. A total of 250 patients were examined and medicines were also distributed. This camp was conducted with the co-ordination of Gurdwara Parbandak Committee, Simbal Camp.
The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr. Sushil K. Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology Govt Medical College Jammu along with a team of doctors which consisted of Dr Vivek, Dr.Nasir, Dr Salma, Dr. Zulfi, Dr Shehbaz, Dr Sayeed and Dr Neha along with the paramedics.
“There has been a tremendous increase in number of Cardiovascular diseases in patients coming from this region”, said Dr. Sharma. The aim of the camp was not only to examine and diagnose the patients of cardiovascular diseases but also to create awareness about risk factors like hypertension diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, obesity, stress and sedentary lifestyle responsible for causation of cardio vascular diseases and, various preventive measures which a person can bring about in his life style so that he is free from this disease
The importance of physical activity, walking and avoidance of excessive alcohol intake and advice regarding diet modifications for cardiac patients was also emphasized in the camp.
