JAMMU, June 28: General Line Teachers Forum (GLTF) held a meeting under the presidentship of Neeraj Sharma and discussed the further course of action against the Government’s decision regarding inclusion of five year of service of ReTs for seniority. The forum has decided to hold massive protest in this regard on July 1 outside Press Club.
While speaking, Sharma raised several objections against the unwarranted decision of Government and questioned the very validity of regularization of ReTs in service leaving aside the inclusion of five years service and transfer.
He added that the ReTs were engaged with twin objectives of providing education in far-flung villages, where no General Line Teachers was available and also to motivate the villagers to enroll their wards in the schools for spreading universal education.
“They have failed to achieve the both these objectives as the primary schools to which they were engaged were either closed or on the verge of closure”, he said, adding that they have no claim for regularization once the schools are closed or come to a closing end. Most of the ReTs are either attached to other schools or ZEO Offices, he added.
Sharma further stated that the ReT Scheme has been misused to such an extent that Education Department has earned the distinction of 2nd rank in corruption in J&K.
Among others present were Tajinder Singh, Dalip, Dig Vijay Singh, Sunil, Kuldeep, Kiran Pandita, etc.
