JAMMU, Sept 30: Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) has extended its unconditional and full support to the Kashmiri Pandit community members based in Valley in their ongoing fight to get their just demands met by the Government.
It said 808 KP families stayed back in Valley under extreme difficult circumstances after the majority of the KPs were forced to leave the Valley because of mass killings and genocide committed against them in 1989 and onwards.
The GKPD statement issued here, today said that these families have shown extreme fortitude in the face of grave dangers and subjugation. They are the flag bearers of the community in its ancestral homeland, the statement added.
It said however, in spite of this, it is painful to note that over the years they have had to face extreme hardships as far as their living conditions, financial needs, employment needs and general welfare is concerned. Their current demands are reflective of the years of neglect and discrimination faced by them and necessitates support at a global level, it added.
The statement said it is of particular concern that the community is especially facing significant harassment at the hands of anti national elements within the local administration since the abrogation of Article 370. Even the orders of the courts on behalf of the KPs are being flouted.
GKPD appealed the Lt Governor and local administration to look into the matter without further delay and provide justice to these hapless people.
