JAMMU, Nov 15: A man was shot dead by an alleged eve-teaser in Jhajjar Kotli area of city outskirts when the deceased along with his daughter approached the father of the accused in his neighbourhood with the complaint of eve teasing.
According to the reports, a young girl employed in a bank was returning from her office to her home this evening when a man identified as Kashmiri Ram (45) son of Devi Dass, resident of Saili, tehsil Dansal, district Jammu, passed obscene remarks to her.
As soon as the girl reached her home, she told the matter to her father, Sita Ram (58) son of late Amar Nath, resident of Saili. The angry father along with her daughter decided to complaint about the incident to the father of the accused and when they reached the residence of the accused, both (complainant and accused) exchanged heated arguments following which the accused, Kashmiri Ram opened a fire with his 12 bore Rifle and the bullet hit the chest of the Sita Ram, who died on the spot.
On getting information, police reached the spot and shifted the body to Government Hospital, Dansal, for post mortem. However, acting swiftly after registering a case in this connection, the Jhajjar Kotli police under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Amit Sharma, arrested the accused along with his brother, Moti Ram and father, Devi Dass, who were present on the scene of the crime. Further investigations in the case was going on.
