Girl student killed, 4 hurt in accident

KATHUA, Oct 5: A 12th class girl student was crushed to death under a tipper while four others injured at Lakhanpur on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway this morning.
Reports said the mishap took place when the girls were on their way to school near Lakhanpur. A speeding tipper (HR-37/2306), coming from wrong side ran over three girls and a labourer. While 12th class girl student, Neha (17), daughter of Mehar Singh of village Mah was crushed to death on the spot, two other girls, namely Ravina, daughter of Vijay Singh and Vitasha, daughter of Karan Singh of the same village were seriously injured. Legs of one of the girls, have been badly damaged in the mishap.
The tipper after accident went out of control and over turned. Its driver Mohd Aziz, son of  Din Mohd of Delhi and a labourer Bahadur Singh of Bilaspur (MP) were also injured in the mishap. The injured were shifted to Kathua hospital. The police registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, an 8th class student was seriously injured after he fell down from a moving Tata Sumo near Darana. He was returning to his home after school. The vehicle did not stop and the boy remained lying on the road unconscious for long. He was later shifted to Mendhar hospital by some locals at around 5 pm. He was identified as Rasaqat Hussain, son of Gulzar, resident of  Darana. He was studying in a school at Mendhar. The police action was still awaited.
