Gillette India net down by 12 pc

MUMBAI, Aug 24: Gillette, a brand of Procter & Gamble of India,has reported a drop of 12 per cent in net profit at Rs 76 crore for the year ended June 30, 2012 as compared to Rs 86 crore for the year ended June 30, 2011.
However, net sales was up by 16 per cent at Rs 1,229 crore for the year ended June 30, 2012 as compared to Rs 1057 crores for the same quarter last year.
The net profit was down due to currency devaluation and increase in commodity prices as well as manufacturing charges, a company said in a release.
Growth in net sales was seen across all businesses – blades & razors, oral care & batteries.
The Board of Directors of the Company  have recommended a dividend of Rs. 15 per Equity Share (Nominal Value of Rs. 10/- each), for the Financial Year ended June 30, 2012.
The dividend will be paid on approval of the Shareholders at the 28th Annual General Meeting of the Company, the release added.
