JAMMU, Mar 3: Former Minister and vice president of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Abdul Ghani Vakil has resigned from the post in protest against the appointment of G A Mir as new PCC chief today.
In a resignation letter vide DO No. 867JKPCC, forwarded to the All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi on March 2, 2015; Mr Vakil said, “it is my painful decision to convey you my resignation from the post of vice presidentship of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee in protest against the appointment of G A Mir as JKPCC chief.”
Mr Vakil further said, “your good-self knows that J&K is a sensitive State and there are at present multiple challenges posed by BJP-PDP alliance as well as from the separatists and under such circumstances experienced, capable and dynamic leadership is needed to face the challenges and not a leader who remained in a controversy due to some allegations. Merit, sincerity, dedication, sacrifices, loyalty and a clean image should have been considered before going for such appointment.”
“Keeping in view the brewing resentment in the rank and file of the party, it is requested your good-self for reconsideration and revocation of this decision,” Vakil maintained.
