SAMBA, Sept 16: District Police Samba has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine by rescuing 19 animals in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal chased a truck bearing Registration Number, NL01N – 9277 coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley after it ignored the signal and intercepted it few metres away from the Naka point. However driver managed to escape from the spot taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, 19 cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 163/2021 under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
