JAMMU, July 17: AAP leader and DDC Member Taranjit Singh Tony demanded immediate reconstruction of the building of Government Girls Higher Secondary School R S Pura alleging that the present structure is in a dismal condition with students and staff facing utmost difficulties in carrying out day to day activities.
The DDC Member said this after visiting the school which was inundated due to ongoing rains spell with poor drainage making it difficult for the staff and students to even move between different classes. He highlighted that the entire structure of the school building is in poor shape and unsafe therefore it is imperative to dismantle the old building and reconstruct the new one as soon as possible.
Tony said that to realize the slogan given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ it is necessary that all such edifice meant for the education of girls should be upgraded in the country because if the educational infrastructure will be in such a poor condition the aforementioned slogan can never become a reality.
The Principal of the School Manmeet Bali raised demands to create Physical Education and EVS posts and laying of tiles so that inundation of rain water could be contained in near future.
Tony, while interacting with the students and staff headed by Principal Manmeet Bali assured that he will leave no stone unturned to ensure that students get what they deserve. He assured that he would soon meet the Director School Education and apprise him of the hardships being faced by the students and staff due to abysmal conditions in the school.
He also directed AEE PWD Bhupinder Sharma to immediately prepare a blueprint for the new school building so that matter could be placed before the Director School Education for sanction.
Lecturer Neeraj Sharma presented a vote of thanks. Tony was accompanied by Ajay SC /BC leader, Retd Principal Parwana ji and youth leader Mandeep Choudhary.
