NEW DELHI, Oct 31 : German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived here tonight on a three day visit to India. She was received at the Airport, on behalf of the Modi government, by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.
As one of the most respected leaders globally and among the longest serving popular European Heads of State, elected consecutively for the fourth term in office, Chancellor Merkel’s visit assumes special significance and is being seen to be very important .
During her three day stay in India, the German Chancellor will have a series of meetings on different issues, in addition to one- to- one sessions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pertinent to mention that Chancellor Markel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi share a warm personal bond of mutual respect and regard for each other. There have been over half a dozen occasions in the recent past when PM Modi and Chancellor Merkel have met and interacted during different international and bilateral events.
Angela Merkel’s visit is also been keenly seen by observers both within India and abroad because of a number of issues on which the two countries hold a common view and mutually cooperate with each other.
After the conclusion of her three day visit, the German Chancellor is scheduled to depart from Delhi on 2nd Nov.
