JAMMU, Sept 8: A deputation of General Line Teachers Forum, led by its State president, Neeraj Sharma and secretary Rakesh Singh, called on Education Minister Naeem Akhtar and put forth the demands of the teaching community.
The demands, put forth by deputation, included cancellation of transfer of all ReT teachers, creation of welfare fund fore teachers, education allowance for higher degrees, enhancement of medical allowance, making B.Ed compulsory qualification to become teacher, enhancement of grades of teachers equivalent to Junior Engineers, disposal of time bound promotion cases, release of pending salaries of teachers and rationalization of surplus teachers staff.
The Forum also demanded dislocation allowance in favour of all teachers who are serving beyond 13 Km from their residence, promotion to Masters and Lecturers on the basis of screening test, clearance of pending liabilities in Mid-Day Meal scheme, earned leave and leave encashment in favour of teaching community, publication of seniority list and removal of corrupt and deadwood in the School Education Department.
The Education Minster gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured to take necessary action on their demands as early as possible.
The delegation comprised of Digvijay Singh, Vivek Gupta, Govind Singh, Rajinder Atri, Sohan and others.
