‘Legislative Council burden on tax payers’ money’

JAMMU, July 12: General Category People’s Forum (GCPFJ) has stressed for total abolition of reservation and provision of economic support through special support measures (SSM) for their socio-economic betterment.
A meeting of the Forum was held here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, wherein the members discussed the problems being faced by the people, especially members of general category.
While speaking in the meeting, Prof Yash Paul Sanson, president of the Forum alleged that previous and present governments have infact have deliberately deprived the `majority’ of their fundamental rights of equality and equal opportunities through political, social and economic reservations. He added that present Govt like all other previous ones, has been neglecting the marginalizing majority and has been functioning on the basis of prejudicial, communal and caste- lines for political gains thus harming national unity and integrity.
Sanson strongly demanded the total abolition of reservations in any form and demanded that poor people in different castes be provided economic support through SSM for their economic upliftment / betterment.
Forum vice president V K Sharma demanded to put Legislative Council to an end and save the unwanted and unproductive use of public money which could be used for the welfare of the poor people. He said its existence is plunder of tax payers money and leads to political corruption as well.
Dr Bansi Lal, a senior member of the Forum demanded enhancement of Medical allowance of the employees and pensioners at par with MLAs/ MLCs. He said all the pensioners be exempted from Income Tax as their pension is an allowance and not a salary. Forum members Deepak Khajuria and Bushan Pargal also spoke on the occasion.
