Geelani says Pandits welcome, no separate colonies

SRINAGAR, June 12: Chairman of Hurriyat  Conference (G), Syed Ali Shah Geelani, today termed the Kashmiri Pandits as part and parcel of Kashmir society and said that they are welcome to Kashmir for won’t allow Government to establish separate colonies for them.
Speaking at a seminar, “Sainik and Pandit Colonies”, in Srinagar, Geelani said: “We always welcome our Pandit brothers to return Valley and reside at their native places but we won’t allow the state administration to establish separates townships for them.”
The separatist leader said that it is a conspiracy to divide Kashmiris in the name of religion as well as plan to defame Muslims of Valley.
Geelani said that there is no reason of establish Sainik colonies for ex-servicemen as after completing the service everybody prefer to stay to at their homes.
Geelani said that all the mainstream political parts including PDP, NC, People’s Conference, AIP and others are the enemies of Kashmiris. He reiterated his call for poll boycott.
Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq in his address said that establishing of Sainik, Pandit colonies in Kashmir is not acceptable.
Mirwaiz termed Sainik colonies, Pandit colonies and new industrial policy as anti Kashmir, and said: “We should get united and fight against such issues to defeat the anti-Kashmir policies of Government.”
“We should make committees comprising of civil societies, Hurriyat leaders and others who will meet Kashmiri Pandits and will assure them that they are part and parcel of our society. But we will not allow government to establish separate townships for them,” Mirwaiz said, adding that the separate townships will raise a hate wall among the Muslim and Pandits brothers.
