Non-gazetted accounts employees hold protest

JAMMU, June 12: General body of J&K Non-Gazetted Accounts Employees Association held a protest under the leadership of its president Kulwant Singh against non-fulfillment of their demands which came up for discussion threadbare.
State Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu was appealed to intervene in the matter and mitigate the sufferings of the cadre.
They demanded that Saddar Treasury Officer should be transferred as he was allegedly harassing non gazette accounts employees as trained accounts personnel were being harassed and priority was being accorded to un-trained ones.
The association demanded immediate shifting of Talab Tillo Treasury immediately; Re-organization of the cadre and declaring it as Professional Services; Departmental Promotion of Accounts personnel; Benefit of SRO-160 and implementation of SRO 272 As per other departments; Creation of posts in cell system in every department; Creation of Welfare Fund, filling up of vacant posts and holding of fresh recruitments.
Minimum 10 years service in cadre, improvement of fractured treasuries in the State, change of designation of Accounts Assistant to Accountant, accountant  as senior accountant on the pattern of Accountant General’s office, removal of 18 months barrier relating to exams and exemption of bookkeeping paper and redressal of issues of Class IV computer operators, Government cashiers, stenographers, clerks, drivers etc, were the other demands also voiced in the meeting.
Those who participated in the protest included Sardar K S Khalsa, Prem Nath, Rampal Sandhu, Anil Sharma, Sobha Ram, Ashok Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Ashwani Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, Narinder Slathia, Sukhdev Singh, Devidayal, Vijay Gupta etc.
