JAMMU, Oct 31: Valedictory function of “SVEEP Activities” in connection with the Summary and Revision of Electoral Roll 2014 was held at Government College for Women (GCW), here today.
The pogramme started with the election song composed and written by Dr Jasmeet Kaur and Shivani Sharma of Music Department.
The Principal, Dr Hemla Aggarwal was the guest of honour. In her address to the students she highlighted the “Role of Youth” in the Democratic Electoral Process.
Dr Aruna Dubey, Nodal Officer briefed about the various programmes held by the college.
Maximum publicity was made through Banners, Nukad Natak, Song Recitation and different competitions which included Debate, Symposium, Poster Making and Slogan Writing amongst students. Video Recordings of the voter awareness programme was also done. The activities mostly concentrated on educating young voters about voter registration process, and build up awareness about the reasons to vote and why every vote counts. A lecture on “Vote Education” was also organized, Asstt. Chief Electoral Officer Jai Kumar Sharma disseminated detailed information on process of registration and the documents required. The Events were organized under the supervision of the Nodal Officer, the organizing Secretary Prof.Nidhi Kotwal and the Ambassadors of the SVEEP Activities Meenaz & Ashna Sharma. The programme ended with prize distribution among the students who participated in various competitions. In the Debate Competition Aditi Dubey of B.A Part I, Itika Sharma and Nistha Chadda of B.A Part III got the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Positions. In the Symposium Competition Shivangi of B.A Part II, Aditi Dubey of B.A Part I and Advaiti of B.A Part I stood 1st, 2nd & 3rd. In the poser Making Anjuman Ayoub got the 1st prize, whereas Sapna Chib and Ramneek Kaur bagged the 2nd & 3rd prize. In the Slogan Writing Meenu Devi, Diksha Saina and Vineeta Saina bagged the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Prize.
