GCPFJ for delimitation of assembly constituencies

JAMMU, June 16: General Category People’s Forum, Jammu (GCPFJ) has demanded delimitation of assembly constituencies, abrogation of Article 35-A and grant of citizenship rights to West Pakistani refugees before State Assembly elections.
The demands were raised during a meeting of the Forum held here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, chairman of the Forum. Speaking on the occasion, Banathia demanded end of marginalization and total neglect of people of Jammu. He said that Modi Government must act to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of Jammu and Ladakh regions.
President of the Forum, Yash Paul Sanson, demanded the Government to set up a Reservation Review Committee to review 70 years old reservation policy which has become outdated and irrelevant. While condemning existing provisions of reservation which provide reservation to some castes, he demanded reservation for the poor to ensure development and alleviation of poverty from the country.
Som Nath Sharma, general secretary of the Forum, stressed on abolition of all types of discriminations based on caste, religion and region and demanded reasonable review of all types of reservations, quotas, special privileges, discriminating legislations, laws and practices and social policies. He demanded compensation to the landlords whose agricultural land was snatched without any compensation under Land Tillers’ Act.
Deepak Khajuria, secretary of the Forum, appealed the Modi Government to exempt all pensioners from income Tax. He demanded health care facilities for senior citizens and enhancement of medical allowance of the pensioners.
Bhushan Pargal, vice-president, demanded that the State Government should ensure all basic amenities like power, water supply, health care and reasonable stipend to educated unemployed youth.
