Srinagar, Sept 8: Scores of students from Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) today staged a protest against the college authorities for jeopardizing their career.
The students said that though they were admitted to the college in the year 2017, they so far, have not completed their degree which is going at a slow pace.
“Our admission took place in 2017 but we have completed only three semesters in three years which is a loss of one year,” Safoora one of the student said.
The students said that as per UGC guidelines, they were to be promoted to 5th Semester, however, they said that the college is compelling them to appear in the viva exams of the 4th semester which is further going to delay their exams.
“We were promoted to 5th semester but college authorities are compelling them to appear in viva exams of 4th semester and it will further delay their 5th-semester exams,” a student said.
The protesting students demanded that they should be promoted based on internal assessment. The students said that the college administration must pay heed to their issues.
The students impressed that the college authorities must take cognizance of their demands to avoid further loss of their academic career.
