JAMMU, Oct 27: Gujjar Bakerwal Ishahi Committee (GBIC) Jammu has strongly opposed the decision of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs J&K, to hand over the control of food, cooking, washing and allied works in the Gujjar-Bakerwal hostels in J&K state to the private parties.
In a meeting of the Committee held here under the chairmanship of Ch Akhtar Hussain, general secretary, the members expressed strong resentment over the decision/ recommendations of the secretary Tribal Affairs J&K with regard to privatization of food/ cooking and allied works. They said that this move is against the Gujjar-Bakerwal community as the middlemen would hand over the contract to another private party/ caterer and much amount meant for their children would go into the coffers of the middlemen.
They said the children are hardly getting Rs 50 per day in terms of food and other items. It is going to be increased to Rs 100 and the main benefit would go to the private parties and agents. He said that community would strongly oppose this decision and may go for agitation.
Ch Bagh Ali, Fateh Hussain, Ch Aslam, Ch Murad Ali and Ch Farman Ali also attended the meeting.
