JAMMU, May 11: BJP spokesperson and convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta today strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal on energy conservation and responsible fuel usage amid prevailing global economic and geopolitical challenges.
In a statement, Gupta described Rahul Gandhi’s comments as irresponsible and immature, alleging that the Congress leader was attempting to mock a serious national issue for political mileage. He said the Prime Minister’s appeal was made in the larger interest of the country at a time when the world is facing rising crude oil prices, economic uncertainty and instability caused by ongoing international conflicts.
Gupta said while many world leaders are preparing their nations to tackle difficult economic conditions, Rahul Gandhi was indulging in political criticism instead of acting responsibly. He accused the Congress party of lacking vision and seriousness on matters of national importance.
According to Gupta, the Prime Minister’s message on responsible consumption was aimed at ensuring preparedness and public awareness in uncertain times. He further alleged that the Congress party was unable to accept decisive leadership and had chosen negativity, misinformation and political theatrics over constructive politics.
Referring to the Congress party’s past rule, Gupta said a party associated with corruption scandals and policy paralysis had no moral authority to question a Government which, according to him, had transformed India into one of the fastest-growing major economies of the world.
Gupta said leadership demands maturity, responsibility and seriousness towards national concerns, and not social media mockery or political drama. He added that Rahul Gandhi’s latest remarks once again reflected what he termed the Congress party’s lack of political seriousness.
The BJP spokesperson asserted that the people of the country understand the importance of discipline, responsible consumption and national unity during difficult global circumstances. He said citizens would continue to support Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, while repeated attempts by Congress to politicize national issues only exposed its frustration, desperation and disconnect from public aspirations.
