KATHUA, May, 29: Kathua town is witnessing growing insanitation concerns as heaps of garbage continued to accumulate in different areas due to the ongoing strike by sanitation workers. Overflowing waste on roadsides, streets, and public places have created an unhygienic atmosphere, raising serious concerns among local residents about the possible outbreak of diseases.
Residents from various parts of the town expressed worry over the deteriorating sanitation conditions and appealed to the administration to immediately intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest. Locals stated that while the demands of sanitation workers should be addressed seriously, the cleanliness situation in the town also requires urgent attention.
Residents in various areas of town said that if the garbage remains unattended for a longer period, it could lead to the spread of dangerous diseases such as malaria, dengue, and other infections, especially during the prevailing weather conditions. They urged the authorities to ensure proper waste disposal and sanitation measures before the situation worsens further.
People also highlighted that sanitation workers play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness in the city and their concerns should not be ignored. According to locals, a constructive dialogue between the administration and the protesting workers is necessary to reach a peaceful and permanent solution.
The residents demanded that the administration take swift action to resolve the ongoing dispute, fulfill the genuine demands of the sanitation workers, and simultaneously restore cleanliness across Kathua town to safeguard public health and hygiene.
Meanwhile, the strike by sanitation workers continues, with Union members maintaining that they will not resume work until their long-pending issues are properly addressed.
