Ganga for promotion of Ayurveda based industry in J&K

SAMBA, Aug 27: The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash today called for promotion of Ayurveda based industry in J&K in view of ever-increasing demand for natural remedies and products.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting attended by DC Samba Sheetal Nanda, MD SIDCO Amit Sharma, SSP Samba Joginder Singh, Director Industries Jammu Rajinder Singh Tara, MD Patanjali Ayurveda Acharya Balakrishna and other officials.
The Minister highlighted the huge potential of Samba district for the establishment of the food processing and personal care industry. He said that regular demand for herbal raw material can provide a stimulus to the rural economy resulting in sustainable development. He appealed for laying focus on forward and backward linkages for benefit of the farmers and industry. He assured that the State will provide necessary assistance for setting up and development of industry for natural remedies and products.
On the occasion, Balakrishna informed that Patanjali Ayurved Ltd is working towards scientifically processing farm produce into daily consumables ranging from Ayurvedic health supplements to foods and cosmetics. He said that J&K has tremendous scope for Ayurvedic industries as some herb species are found exclusively in the State. He also informed that Patanjali intends to establish Food Park along with Yog Research facility in the State.
Later, the Minister along with MD Patanjali visited Meen Charka (Smailpur) and Industrial Area Phase 3 SIDCO for inspecting prospective sites for the establishment of the industry. They also planted saplings in the SIDCO Samba complex.
