JAMMU, Aug 12:  Ramesh Sharma, Coordinator, Gandhi Peace Foundation, today delivered a lecture at the Jammu University Law School. He spoke on the role of values in practicing law as a profession.
The speaker highlighted some important experiences of Mahatma Gandhi’s life which made him to introspect and analyze the legal profession. Citing examples from Mahatma Gandhi’s life experiences, he told the students about the manner in which the legal profession has got commercialized. The sole purpose of the lawyer, he said, is to bring out truth.
Besides he also threw light on important aspects like professional ethics, advocate- client relationship. He further said that practicing law in the true sense is a very challenging job as an advocate needs to be a good legal researcher who has to bring forth the truth on the basis of knowledge as well as precedence.
Earlier, Prof Sanjay Gupta,   Director of The Law School presented welcome address and introduced the speaker to the students.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, local coordinator Gandhi Peace Foundation, Jammu Chapter, presented the formal vote of thanks.
