JAMMU, Jan 16: While terming the opening of new 40 degree colleges in the State a decision in right direction to provide higher education facilities to people of rural and far-flung areas by Governor’s administration, J&K People’s Revolutionary Forum (JKPRF) has expressed its dismay over neglecting the Ganderbal district which still has a vast area without higher education facilities.
In a statement issued here, today the president of the Forum and a veteran Trade Unionist, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani said that Wakura tehsil of Ganderbal district comprises of a huge population of 50,000 having six higher secondary schools. The students of the area have to travel more than 15 kms to reach Ganderbal the nearest College in the district.
He said in view of the sanctioning of new colleges the fair deal was not given to the district which has only two colleges one at Ganderbal and another at Kangan. The college at Kangan touches 60 km distance upto Baltal. Hence sanctioning of a new college at Wakura is need of the hour, he added.
