JAMMU, Oct 8: Dr Shehnaz Ganai, who has been deputed by the State Government as observer on behalf of Sate Haj Committee, to oversee the Haj arrangements in Saudi today met Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al-Madani, President of the Islamic Development Bank in Mecca. She was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Telangana, Mahmood Ali.
In the meeting, various issues including the recent floods in the State were discussed.
She gave an overview of the efforts put in by the State Government in rescuing the people from the affected areas and also relief operations launched to alleviate the agony of the victims. She informed them that the State is passing through a tough time as colossal damage has been caused to life, property, crops, infrastructure and utility services across the State during the recent incessant rains which caused floods and landslides.
She informed them that the catastrophe has shaken the State and we have to face it unitedly and collectively, and a massive rehabilitation programme has become imperative. The need of the hour is that resources need to be pooled to overcome the challenges posed by the natural calamity, and asked them to come forward for generous help, she added.
