NEW DELHI:  RailwayS and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said Railways is on a growth trajectory and its infrastructure plans ARE not going to be hit by fund crunch as government has suitably increased outlays on railways modernisation, safety and amenities.

Talking about the government’s sustainable future for infrastructure growth at Global Business Summit here, Mr Goyal said, “Our Government has focused on providing a better future, a better tomorrow, rather than worrying about the way things were done in the past”.

Mr Goyal said that when this government came to power in 2014 it inherited a baggage in the name of infrastructure.

He said the capex had tripled than what it was five years ago and the Railways was looking at the capex of 22-23 billion dollars annually.

Stating that obsolete Railway signal system was behind rising number of accidents, the Minister said  to overcome this vital issue this Government decided to replace it with the best and latest system available in the world .

“The latest signalling system was being implemented across the country,” he added. (AGENCIES)
