FSR Centre organizes training program for farmers

JAMMU, Mar 30: Farming System Research (FSR) Centre, SKUAST-Jammu organized one day field training programme in Integrated Farming System at newly established Integrated Farming System Research (IFSR) Model on Saturday.
About 30 farmers of far-flung areas of Poonch accompanied by Agriculture Officers of Agriculture Department, Jammu under ATMA, participated in the programme.
Prof Dileep Kachroo, Chief Scientist and Head Farming System Research Centre and Division of Agronomy, who is actively involved in enhancing the productivity, profitability and sustainability for small and marginal farmers of Jammu, gave the detailed lecture on adoption of Integrated Farming System approach. He also briefed them about the benefits of integrated farming system.
The farmers were also given the hands on training in each enterprise for learning the new techniques developed by the scientific team of FSR Centre.
Dr Vijay Khajuria, Dr BR Bazaya, Dr R Puniya, Dr MC Dwivedi and Purshotam Kumar assisted the Chief Scientist in organising the practical field training.
Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, interacted with the farmers and impressed upon them to adopt IFSR model.
