FSO carries out surprise check on unhygienic food

JAMMU, June 18: Acting on specific complaints that food being served in Amar Singh Club and Spice Restaurant is being processed/ cooked in unhygienic and insanitary conditions, a team of Food Safety Officers (FSO) under the supervision of Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Controller Food, Area, JMC carried out surprise check of above said Food Business Operations.
During the visit it was found that catering service in Amar Singh Club is being executed by Sansar Chand. On inspection of the kitchen, it was observed that tomato sauce being prepared by said vendor is unfit for human consumption.
At the time of inspection, approximately 50 kgs of rotten and perished tomatoes were found being processed for preparing chutney/sauce. Also, the refrigerator provided in the kitchen was found with finger chips and red meat bearing having obnoxious smell and therefore unfit for human consumption.
The stocks were destroyed on spot. A challan for unhygienic and insanitary conditions shall be filed against the said vendor in due course of time.
On inspection of Spice Restaurant it was found that huge stocks articles viz milk power, sauce, whilte sauce, mayonnaise sauce meant for serving to the consumers in the restaurant were found stocked in improper conditions and remnants of rodents were found in the said stocks.
All such items were destroyed on spot and challan for unhygienic and insanitary conditions against the proprietor of the firm shall be filed before competent court.
