JAMMU, July 23: A fruit vendor was killed today in a hit and run case in Qasim Nagar area on city outskirts.
According to a police official, a ‘Rehriwala’ who was selling fruits, was hit by an unknown four-wheeler at Qasim Nagar Chowk this afternoon. He said in the mishap, the ‘Rehriwala’ did not receive any external injury but he fell unconscious.
“The victim identified as Vijay Kumar (52) son of Bishan Dass, resident of New Bahu Fort Colony, was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” he said, adding the victim probably died of some external injury.
The official said that after completion of all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigation started.
