RAJOURI, July 23: The Forest Department staff in a major operation retrieved nearly 400 kanal of Govt (Forest) land and also demolished a Pacca structure in Kalakote area of district Rajouri today.
Official sources said that a Forest team led by DFO Rajouri, Sanjay Kumar Gupta, assisted by Range Officer Kalakote and Forest Protection Force staff, organised an operation in Compartment Numbers- 74/K and 75/K, of Kalakote Range, under the direct supervision of Conservator of Forests, West Circle (Rajouri-Poonch-Reasi), B Mohandass and cleared encroachment on nearly 400 kanals of land by some land grabbers.
During operation, the team initially suffered some resistance from the families, but later managed to retrieve nearly 400 kanal of Forest land. They also demolished a Pacca structure raised on the said land. CCF Jammu, Sameer Bharti has lauded the efforts of Forest staff.
