Friday prayers again barred at Jamia Masjid

SRINAGAR, Nov 5: While remaining out of bounds for people on Friday, the congregational prayers were again disallowed at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid for the 14th consecutive Friday.
People said that the prayers were not offered as authorities locked the main gate of the mosque with armed forces personnel deployed in front of it early in the morning.
The Anjuman Aquaf Jamia Masjid has criticised the administration for its conduct while stating that the people are adhering to the COVID SOPs and despite that, the administration is not paying any heed.
On the other hand, people have expressed their dismay over the conduct of the authorities and said that even as all other major mosques and shrines are open and prayers are being offered, what is stopping them from allowing the conduct of Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid.
