JAMMU, May 31: All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha, Head Office Krishna Nagar, Jammu, today launched free charitable OPD services for poor and needy people.
The services were formally inaugurated by Prof (Dr) O P Bhagat, former Head of the Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College Jammu and Prof (Dr) Naseeb Digra former Principal GMC Jammu, at present Chairman of JK Chapter of Associaion of Surgeons of India (JAKASI) who cut the ribbon and examined patients suffering from orthopaedic ailments during the inaugural session.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof O P Bhagat described the initiative as a timely and much-needed service in view of the rising healthcare costs. He said the Sabha intends to gradually expand the facility by introducing free medicines, basic laboratory services and other ancillary healthcare facilities for the benefit of the public.
R C Bhasin, president of All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha, said that the unfinished dispensary complex within the Guru Ravidass Bhawan premises would be completed in due course, paving the way for the establishment of a full-fledged polyclinic dedicated to serving poor and needy patients.
The Sabha appealed to the public to avail themselves of the free medical services, which will commence from June 1 and be available daily from 5 pm to 7 pm.
A panel of experienced doctors has been constituted to provide specialist consultations on designated days. Dr Rajinder Jangral, General Physician, will attend patients on Mondays; Dr Sanjay Bhasin, Surgeon, on Tuesdays; Dr Bais Dev, Orthopaedic Specialist, on Wednesdays; Dr Sanjay Kai, Eye Specialist, on Thursdays; Dr Samiksha Bhagat, ENT Specialist, on Fridays; Dr Anuradha, Gynaecologist, on Saturdays; while Dr Ravi Bharti, Child Specialist, and Dr Anupama, Gynaecologist, will offer services on Sundays.
Among the eminent medical professionals present were Prof N C Digra, Prof Subash Bhardwaj, Dr Rajinder Samyal, Prof Ashwani Thapa, Prof Rajesh Angral, Prof Kamal Kishore, Prof B R Bhagat and Dr Anil Thapa. Other prominent attendees included Tarsem Loach, General Secretary of the Sabha, Prof G L Thapa and Prof C L Shivgotra.
