There is a proposal to make free medicines available for the citizens undergoing treatment in the Jammu Medical College Hospital. While the issue of its free distribution is a welcome step, at the same time, its availability in the hospital itself especially at odd hours is really aimed at helping the patients as well the attendants.
Can all medicines prescribed by the doctors be made available or just some ordinary ones in the name of free medicines? What about the genuiness of such medicines as the happenings in K.C.Pant Hospital, Srinagar are still fresh in our minds. The store should be open 24 hours and medicines notified prominently to prevent/sale through means which could defeat the very purpose.
