JAMMU, June 25: “The State and the Central Governments should frame policies to redress the problems being faced by the PoK refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971”.
This was stated by Ajay Kumar, general secretary, Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) and Deepu Ronetra, provincial president during a joint press conference here today.
As these people were forced to leave their homes across the border, the State and the Central Governments are not showing any indications of accepting them as the citizens of India, they added.
These refugees were deprived of Government jobs and other due facilities needed for a safe and secure life, they said.
“We will soon send memorandums to the Central Government and the Parliamentarians of main opposition parties in this regard to mobilize national opinion for pressurizing the Government to take a decision in this regard”, they informed.
Among others present were Gursagar Singh, JL Chopra, Vishal Chowdhary, Balwinder Charak, Subash Bawa, Shashi Pal and representatives of Pak-refugees including Jeet Singh, Bacchan Lal, Harjot Singh, Major Ram, Dilip Singh and Krishen Lal.
