Four drug peddlers arrested

KATRA, Apr 14: Police apprehended four drug peddlers and recovered significant quantity of heroin from their possession.
According to Police, during routine patrolling and naka checking on the Katra-Reasi road near Asia Chowk, one suspicious person approaching from K C Residency towards Asia Chowk was intercepted and questioned.
The individual identified himself as Karmat Ali, son of Sakhi Mohd, resident of Bhaga, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. Upon conducting his personal search, a small black-coloured polythene bag containing approximately three grams of heroin was recovered
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused is a habitual drug consumer and was also involved in drug peddling, allegedly supplying narcotics among the youth in the Katra area. Accordingly, a case FIR under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
Three more drug peddlers were apprehended by the Police party during routine foot patrolling duty at Varun Chowk. The accused were identified as Sanjay Kumar alias Sanju Baba, son of Girdhari Lal, resident of Ward No. 4, Main Bazar Katra; Dhayan Singh son of Hari Singh, resident of Uttarakhand (presently residing at Kun Darorian, Nangal Road) and Pardeep Singh son of Dharam Singh, resident of Tea Garden, Near Bus Stand Katra.
During their personal search, approximately 5.29 grams of heroin was recovered A case FIR under sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.
Both the operations were carried out under the supervision of SHO Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao and SDPO Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
