JAMMU, Mar 1: Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, former MLC met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Ganai apprised Governor about the hardships being faced by people living along the LoC and IB due to cross border firing and requested for expediting construction of community and individual bunkers, compensation to people and livestock injured due to cross border firing, adequate availability of medicines and healthcare facilities, provision of bullet proof critical care ambulances, free ration/kerosene for affected people and setting up of 24×7 Helpline.
She also requested for sanctioning a special economic/employment package for the people living near LoC/IB, early completion of offsite campus of Jammu University at Dingla and other languishing road Roads and Bridges projects, sanctioning of a special package under Border Area Development Programme for establishment of Modern Cluster villages along LoC, and allotment of 5 marlas of land to people living near LoC/IB.
Governor assured Ganai due consideration of her demands and urged her to work relentlessly for public welfare.
Arun Kumar Mehta, who took over as Principal Secretary Finance also met Governor. They discussed several important issues pertaining to the Department.
Governor urged Mehta to ensure that all the indicators of fiscal health of the State should be closely monitored and stressed the high importance of infusing financial discipline amongst the public functionaries for providing fiscal and financial stability to the State.
